A study was conducted on mice infected with strains Y and CL of Trypanosoma cruzi. The ability of anti-Y and anti-CL sera to induce complement-mediated lysis, immune clearance and protection against the acute phase of the infection was studied using homologous anti-Y or anti-CL serum tested with the Y or CL strain, or heterologous anti-Y serum tested with the CL strain or anti-CL serum tested with the Y strain. Complement-mediated lysis was induced by both homologous and heterologous antisera but protection was afforded only by homologous antisera. Immune clearance was induced by homologous but not by heterologous antisera. Antisera with high clearance ability were able to confer protection whereas antisera with high lytic ability were not. These results... |

The effect of clearance in husking machine (Satake BK40 type) on paddy cultivar of Amber 31 (AM31) were tested during husking at three clearance of 0.5,0.7and 0.9 mm and two grains moisture 9-11% and 11-13% .The experiments were carried out in a factorial experiment under complete randomized design with three replications. The results showed that the 9-11% grain moisture was significantly better than the 11-13% grain moisture in all studied conditions. The results showed a machine productivity of 1.707 and 1.441 th-1, power consumption of 13.585 and 14.800 kW, husking efficiency of 83.478% and 81.979%, milling recovery of 69.848 and68.794% ,head paddy of 68.086 and 66.221 %, and broken paddy of 6.226 % and 7.471 % , for 9-11% and 11-13%, respectively.... |

Some of the main equine diseases are related to the musculoskeletal system, mainly during the bone developing in young animals. In São Paulo state, Brazil, the use of tropical grasses for grazing, the seasons and a general tendency to concentrate a large number of horses in small areas, frequently results on bone diseases, sometimes subtle, which depreciate the economic value of the horses and decrease the chance of a maximum performance. An early diagnosis of mineral imbalance play an important role once the bone diseases can be reversible when corrected on time. The author presents a review of physiology and pathophysiology of the bone. Also describe the methods available for diagnostic and suggest the phosphorus clearance as a sensitive, early, low cost... |
